If you have any questions regarding any of the topics below please contact us @ 895-3213. On-line Users – Only UNLV department users that have properly registered for RebelCopy On-line services and received their department’s Administrative Authority may use these services. Users will be held responsible for all activity generated using RebelCopy On-line services. User Accounts – Users may only access and charge RebelCopy On-line services to those budget accounts they have been granted authorization to use by their department administrator and will be held accountable for all activity that occurs under these accounts. UCCSN & UNLV Computing Resources – All UCCSN & UNLV Systems and Applications Computing Resources Guidelines apply to the use of RebelCopy On-line services. UCCSN & UNLV Computing Resources Guidelines for Use of Computing Resources: Purpose: It is important for users to practice ethical and responsible behavior when using any University resource. Computing resources allow decentralized access to both valuable equipment and sensitive information thereby losing much of the security inherent in traditional lines of authority. Misuse of these powerful resources can cause loss or corruption of valuable files, delay or prevention of access to these resources, and result in a monetary loss to the University community. The following guidelines provide a better understanding of the responsibilities associated with use of UCCSN and UNLV computing resources. Guidelines 1. Users may access only those computer accounts for which they have authorization. 2. Users may be held responsible for all activity on their computer accounts. 3. Computer access is limited to those activities authorized by virtue of one’s scope of responsibility within the University. 4. When a user’s job status changes, the user’s supervisor must inform the UNLV Security Administrator if any change in access is indicated. 5. Users may not access or copy programs or files that are not licensed for their workstation unless permission has been obtained through appropriate UNLV or legal channels. 6. It is the user’s responsibility to prevent the introduction of viruses or other destructive programs through their adherence to their department or area policy is such matters, which may include, but be limited to, the use of virus detection software and other means to ensure reliable operation. Prohibited Activities: Users are referred to Section 6.2.2 of the University and Community College System of Nevada (UCCSN) Code. Disciplinary sanctions are established in Section 6.3 of the Code. Prohibited activities include but are not limited to Section 6.22(r) and (s) of the UCCSN Code: (r) Any other conduct which violates applicable stated prohibitions, policies, procedures, rules, regulations or by-laws of the Board or a system institution. (s) Willfully destroying, damaging, tampering, altering, stealing, misappropriating, or using without permission any system program or file of the institution. Computer Programs, Files and Viruses – It is the responsibility of the user to prevent the introduction of viruses or other destructive programs, when submitting on-line orders, by the use of virus detection software and other means to ensure they are not transmitting infected files to RebelCopy On-line services. Users may be held responsible for any destruction or harm caused to RebelCopy On-line services hardware or software by viruses or other destructive programs that are submitted. Copyrighted Materials – It is the responsibility of the user to ensure the files they are uploading are not violating copyright laws and are not the subject of, or infringe upon, any patent, trade name or secret, copyright, right of publicity, moral right or other intellectual property right of a person or entity. Reproduction of copyrighted material, without prior permission of the copyright owner, particularly in an educational setting, is an issue of concern for the academic community. Unfortunately, users in an educational setting all too often overlook the impropriety of much unauthorized copying. Although copying all or part of a work without obtaining permission may appear to be an easy and convenient solution to an immediate problem, such unauthorized copying can frequently violate the rights of the author or publisher of the copyrighted works, and be directly contrary to the academic mission to teach respect for ideas and for the intellectual property which expresses those ideas. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas encourages its faculty, staff, and students to respect the intellectual property rights of others and to abide by applicable intellectual property laws, including copyright law. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas neither condones nor authorizes the making of copies in violation of U. S. Copyright Law (Title 17, U. S. Code). Downloaded Materials – User will ensure that materials downloaded to the site are not unlawful, threatening, obscene, abusive, defamatory or for the concealment or commission of a crime, or in any way disrupt the service or any service networks provided by this site. Uploaded Files: Publications/Reprographics accepts for on-line Quick Print submission files of the types Microsoft Word (.doc), Corel Word Perfect (.wpd), Text (.txt), Post Script language (.ps), and Portable Document Format (.pdf). All file types should be created with the appropriate options to embed fonts. Due to local hardware and driver dependence of file formatting, application variations regarding the embedding of fonts, and the inability of some copyrighted fonts to be embedded Publications/Reprographics cannot guarantee that fonts and formatting of the printed file will match the local screen displayed fonts and formatting of the file. Portable Document Format (.pdf), or PDF, is the preferred file type for on-line Quick Print submission of print orders. When created with the appropriate parameters PDF files will embed most non-copyrighted fonts and formatting from the original document. PDF files also provide the most accurate screen representation of the printed file. Appropriate parameters for the creation of PDF files for on-line submission to Publications/Reprographics can be obtained by contacting the Reprographics department. RebelCopy On-Line Trade Customs and Business Practices: Publications/Reprographics follows certain Trade Customs and Business Practices established for the Graphic Communications industry. The following customs and practices define the relationship between you, our client, and our On-line Service Operations. On-Line Work Orders – An on-line completed work order is automatically generated for users. Please print and keep a copy of your work order and refer to the work order number in the upper right hand corner when inquiring about your job. Cancelled Work Orders – Should a user need to cancel an order after submission they must contact Reprographics as soon as possible to cancel their order or their order will be completed as requested and charged accordingly. Cancelled orders, experimental or preliminary work at clients request will be charged at the current rate for all services performed and materials provided to that point. On-Line Screen Proofs – On-line screen proofs are “WYSIWIG – What You See Is What You Get” and are printed exactly the way you see them on your computer screen. A copy of the proof is provided as a second page of the on-line completed work order and should be kept for your records. On-Line Pricing – Standardized items, i.e., letterhead, envelopes, business cards, etc. are automatically priced with a predetermined pricing schedule based on the quantity the user has selected. Because quick print orders are basically a custom made printing product those charges are calculated after receiving the user’s order. Reprographics is a cost-recovery department and charges back clients for products and services based on time and materials. Publications/Reprographics are required to comply with the Campus Recharge Policy and are audited and charge-back rates approved annually by the Controller’s Office. Jobs are billed through the university Advantage financial system. Cancelled orders, experimental or preliminary work at clients request will be charged at the current rate for all services performed and materials provided to that point. Need Dates, Production Schedules and Rush Charges – Need Dates are automatically filled in for on-line work orders based on average turnaround times for the item you ordered. The need date can be modified to the users needs but may incur a rush charge. There will be no liability or penalty for causes beyond the control of Publications/Reprographics for not meeting the clients need date. A rush charge of 10%, not less than $10.00, will be charged for jobs requiring immediate turnaround before the standard turnaround time or that require the lifting of other jobs in production in order to meet the users deadline. Color Copies - Because of differences in computers, computer screens, printing/copying equipment, paper, inks, and other conditions between on-screen color proofing and production color copying operations, a reasonable variation in color between computer screen color and the printed/copied project is to be expected. When variation of this kind occurs, it will be considered acceptable performance. Job Returns and Credits - Clients have five (5) working days from receipt of their project to return their project for credit or reprinting because of defect in workmanship. The client must return the entire job to Reprographics to be inspected for type and amount of defect. Reprographics will then determine the amount of credit to be given if the job is usable, or if the job is unusable to be reprinted at Reprographics expense or full credit given.
